OCTOBER MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
October 8, 2009 by Kay Fulton

Vice President Earl Philips called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. There were approximately 80 in attendance.

Sign-up for the Hut was the primary order of business so Earl introduced the Forest Service staff (Nate Gaskell, Arlee Stale and Laurie) first so that they could conduct the sign-up using the lottery system throughout the rest of the meeting. Earl reminded everyone that he maintains the cancellation service and list. If someone cannot use their date, they should inform Earl and he will contact those on his cancellation list to let them know of the opening. To be on the list contact Earl at skihut@montana.com.

Upcoming Events:
November meeting, 11/12 - Silent Auction
December meeting, l2/10 - Potluck & Vendors
February 27, 2010 - Extravaganza

Treasurer’s Report: Jeane Lippert did not have a report but did inform the Club that she would be moving the savings account from Raymond James because they are now charging a $40 monthly service charge and we do not have enough money to support that. Mel pointed out that our financing is based on three main sources: memberships, trail map sponsors and donations at the trailhead and Hut.

Membership: Since this was the membership renewal meeting, Jack Losensky did not have a membership number yet but had collected a great number so far. He did encourage members to get their newsletters by e-mail if at all possible since it saves the Club a great deal of money. Nancy Grisham, who had been sending out the newsletters by e-mail, has stepped down so she could help with other Club activities. Reine Hilton has volunteered to take her place. Be sure to let Jack or Reine know if you change your e-mail address.

Newsletter: Earl announced that Pat Leonard was back from his surgical procedure in Seattle and is ready to take on the newsletter again. He thanked Dan Driscoll for stepping in and doing the newsletter in the interim.

Trails Report: Mel Mooers reported that everything is ready at the ski area for the anticipated upcoming season: downed trees removed from trails, firewood and supplies in the cabin. The workdays have been very successful and thanks to everyone who has helped.

The Forest Service had the cabin stained and treated and it looks great. The Map is ready to go: Ginny Deck did some modification of the map itself and Michelle Thompson has sold all of the advertising spots. Printing is almost completed. Michelle has decided to step down so a new coordinator will be needed. She will train the new person. Thanks, Michelle, for all of your hard work.

Joe Rousoff has repainted the floor and Earl Philips reported that it looks beautiful. Thanks again, Joe.

The sign ups for the Hut went very smoothly and everyone was pleased with how soon it was completed. Thanks, to the Wisdom Forest Service staff.
