Como 1/28

The trail conditions at Como are now extremely poor and not suitable for use. The snow is loose and soaked with water. We advise everyone to avoid using the trail. To make it suitable for skiing again, we need more snow. Additionally, skiing or riding on the trail today would cause deep ruts that would need a lot more snow to fill in.

Chief Joseph Pass 1/26

Ski trails and Multi Use Trails at Chief Joseph Pass will be groomed tomorrow(Saturday) morning. The lower ski trails, Banshee, Joseph Creek and Middle Fork will not be groomed again until we get more snow.
The Corvallis American Legion is conducting their annual emergency preparedness radio event in the Chief Joseph Pass parking lot this weekend, which uses up about 1/4 of the parking lot, so please carpool if possible.

Como 1/26

I got out early this morning and groomed Upper Road and Middle Road at Como while the temperatures were still cool enough. They definitely aren’t perfect, but are a lot better than they were. Expect firm Icy conditions. – Jesse

All of the ski trails at Chief Joseph Pass were groomed this morning. About 1 inch of snow has fallen since grooming finished. Additional grooming will happen through the weekend as needed. It should be great conditions for skate and classic skiing this weekend.

We will be attempting to groom at Lake Como Friday morning.

Mid week conditions report

Chief Joseph pass will be groomed Thursday, and as needed over the weekend.
Como has been too warm for grooming this week, but ski conditions are still decent.
Skalkaho pass(multi use trail groomed by bitterroot ridge runners) was groomed Monday and is probably the best option for skiing close to Hamilton right now.

Chief Joseph Pass 1/18

All the ski trails at Chief Joseph were groomed today, except the lower trails(Middle Fork, Joseph Creek and Banshee) which need more a little more snow before the snowcat can get down them. We will be grooming them with snowmobiles again soon, but it’s not yet scheduled.

Today’s grooming, and every Thursday this winter, is sponsored by Triple Creek Ranch.

Wednesday grooming update

All trails at Como have been groomed. But they are still soft and the cover is thin. Expect to hit rocks. The new connector between upper and lower road is basically unskiable. Trails will probably be groomed again Friday.

Chief Joseph Pass was last groomed last Thursday. Trails will be groomed tomorrow. Multi use trails might not happen until friday. Ski trails will be regroomed as needed over the weekend.

The Bitterroot Ridge Runners groomed Skalkaho Pass Tuesday, and are planning on grooming Lost Horse today.

Como – 1/15/24

Today we started the process of grooming at Como. Started does NOT mean it’s ready to ski. There is 1 foot of snow at the bottom, and 2 feet at the top, but that compressed down to less than 3 inches in places, so while it looks like corduroy you are actually skiing on the ground. This should give us a good base to work on, and if storms come in as forecasted this week hopefully we will be skiing at Como next weekend.
